No-one ever forgets this book
I haven’t read To Kill A Mockingbird for nigh-on 17 years. Today on the train a woman sat down next to me with an open paperback. Glancing idly over her shoulder I read just two sentences of dialogue between Jem and Dill, and was able to identify it immediately.
Slightly surprised at how easily I recognised a snippet of a book I’ve read just once, over half my life ago, I was then amused to see a quote from The Independent on the back cover:
“No-one ever forgets this book.”
Well, quite. I think it’s about time I found my old paperback copy for a long-overdue re-reading.
